The Remarker: Pulido Guides Underprivileged Students to Higher Education

February 2, 2024 — The Remarker, a publication by St. Mark's School of Texas, publishes an article on Director of College Counseling Veronica Pulido and her work with students in the Brewer Foundation Future Leaders Program (FLP). The article states that, with help from people like Pulido, the FLP provides its students with valuable support as they navigate the college admissions process.

Founded in 2001, the FLP provides academic and leadership development training to select students from the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) — many of whom are preparing to be first- or second-generation college students. Pulido discusses her work with the program's juniors and seniors, as they prepare college applications and essays.

"We get to know the students on an individual basis, you know, especially what a student has gone through," Pulido said. "Getting that call or getting that text from a student that they've matched to a college, it is just amazing to be able to have worked with the student and to have that match."
